Denver locals get DRENCHED this summer for Colorado firefighters

Runners and walkers of all ages, sizes and abilities get ready to get cool off this summer in the Drenched 5K coming to City Park in Denver, Colorado on August 19th, 2012.
Colorado, like the rest of the nation, is suffering from one of the worst heat waves in centuries and Drenched offers a fun solution to cool off, get a great workout and raise money for a worthy and timely cause.

Participants will run or walk from dry to drenched through “hot zones” and drenched zones which may include mist tunnels, sprinkler minefields, spectator “sniper” zones, fire hoses, and a 75 foot slip n slide (optional) through the finish line. Runners and walkers are encourage to form teams, don crazy costumes, and bring out their biggest water guns for a little camaraderie and competition against other teams.
Included in the registration fee is a water gun and packet of balloons, the lucky first 100 registrations get a ViewSport tee where the secret logo only appears when the shirt gets wet.
Upgrades for large “water weapons” and Viewsport tees will be available.
For those not interested in building up a sweat but who want to get in on the fun, Drenched has a free spectator zone where they get to drench the runners any way possible!
The fun doesn’t end with the 5K either. Runners, walkers and spectators will enjoy the post run water festival where there will be cold beverages donated by Snapple, Honest Tea and local breweries, music, more slip n slides, a water log roll challenge, WOW bubbles, and of course the largest water fight on the planet!
Colorado has had a devastating wildfire season and Drenched is donating a portion of all proceeds to local fire stations and local volunteer firefighter departments. Firefighters and engines will be at the event ready to drench the runners with fire hose spray and will be collecting donations for their departments.
