This interactive seminar reinforces and ties together the Realistic Safety Strategies you learned in Level I and introduces several new and advanced concepts. You will engage your mind and body in a series of intriguing scenarios with themes that range from simple harassment to violent assaults and include challenging elements and thought provoking twists. Physical defense techniques will be mastered through a combination of movement mapping, contact drills and escape plans that are incorporated into each scenario. More information here.

Just in case you haven’t seen the sign on County Line & I-25!!

Due to the grand opening of IKEA on July 27, motorists in the South Metro area may experience traffic delays and roadway congestion.  Traffic condition updates – such as delays, parking, roadway congestion, road closures and detours – can be found by locating 1630 AM on automobile radios. Radio frequency 1630 AM will broadcast within a 2-3 mile radius of the County Line Road/I-25 area.

The Douglas County Traffic Management Center (TMC) will be staffed by personnel from Lone Tree Public Works, Douglas County Traffic, Centennial Public Works, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, July 27 through Sunday, July 31.  Numerous traffic surveillance cameras and traffic data collectors have been installed in the area to observe traffic conditions in real-time. Field crews will also be on standby to provide additional traffic control that may be needed.

We will continue hosting these luncheons at Champps for the remainder of the scheduled months. Country Buffet has hosted our luncheons for several years and have a done a wonderful job. Champps will provide a similar private room to host our luncheons and we are excited to bring our luncheons to a fresh location.  Champps will provide food, based on a condensed menu, and non-alcoholic beverages for a ten dollar price point.

The next meeting of the Lone Tree Crime Prevention Club will be held at Champps on Wednesday, July 20^th at 11:30 am.

In 2008 Every Creature Counts was able to save 2189 animals who found their forever homes  and 7,102 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered, ECC is hoping to double those figures this year.

The winter journey is filled with merry activities both inside and outside of the museum beginning with the wildlife themed trail of lights. This path around The Wildlife Experience is lined with beautiful light sculptures and colorfully light-coated trees. Escape the cold with a cup of cocoa from a refreshment station along the path and get a family picture with dazzling Winter WonderLights backdrop, or with one of the many stunning sculptures found along the path!

A perfect place to end the trails’ journey is in The Wildlife Experience’s newest exhibit Globeology. Visitors can warm up by exploring this quarter-mile indoor path through eight different worldly biomes including the Arctic Tundra where visitors can gaze eye to eye with polar bears and delight in the Aurora Borealis.

Before you leave the warmth of the indoors, be sure to write your letter to Santa as you will soon bundle up to wander around the whimsical Santa’s Village. Full of winter charm and merriment, guests enter the enchanting village and are instantly transported to the magical world of the North Pole. Live reindeer prepare for the big night as elves keep busy by entertaining and spreading good cheer. Throughout the village, families are welcomed to a variety of snowy villas where children can visit with Santa as they warm by the fire in the Claus’ living room and take a picture. Each villa provides a new encounter of holiday traditions, new and old, cheerful elves and clever ornamental trimmings. Educational opportunities await families to learn about favorite winter animals, such as the arctic fox, polar bears, orca whales…and many more!

After delivering your letter to Santa, guests can escape the winter chill and relax in the Extreme Screen Theater with a showing of the original animated, How the Grinch Stole Christmas complete with popcorn and other favorite holiday treats.

World Pasta Day was celebrated by the Italian Pasta Association (UNIPI) for the first time in the United States during a magnificent event at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City on October 25, 2004. The entire day’s events were also sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission (ITC) and Buonitalia SpA.

The important events included:

o A high-level scientific and culinary colloquium organized thanks to the support of Oldways Preservation Trust, the food issues think tank;

o A celebratory lunch for influencers of public opinion, at which the phrases “pasta forever” and “pasta per sempre” were introduced by the luncheon speakers; and

o A Gala Dinner celebrating pasta meals organized by ITC and arranged by Tony May, a leading US restaurateur, at which the principal representatives of UNIPI, Italian Trade Commission and Buonitalia, and the Italian Consul General to the United Nations, welcomed the attendees. Over 100 journalists, industry and opinion leaders joined the celebration — the Colloquium, a Luncheon and Gala Dinner — confirming that pasta continues to be a favorite of chefs, cookbook authors, media, and families all over the World.

The best place to get pumpkins at your local farmers market.

There are several Farmers Markets still going for a few more weeks in douglas county.

Downtown Castle Rock, 8 a.m. to noon, Saturdays through Oct. 10.  Find the best in fresh fruits, vegetables and other homegrown goodies. Located at Second Street  between Wilcox and Perry. The event is coordinated by the CSU Cooperative Extension Service-Douglas County.

Was at Lodo’s and wanted a brew that I have never tried before. I had an Alaskan Red Ale. It was an awesome brew, smooth and very flavorful! It was almost like a Fat Tire but I thought tasted better. The flavor profile was so smooth and rich that you could drink alot of them…but it was lunch time.

My wife had the Aguave Wheat from the Breckenridge Brewery. It was really good, first wheat beer I could drink without having a slice of orange or lemon. The flavor profile already had  sweet agauve tones.

I would recomend either one of these beers to anyone!! Also, we had a great bartender, her name was Marin. She was the one that recommended these 2 brews, she was very knowledgable and she didn’t even drink beer! She asked everyone at the bar their names and then would check on you by name, that is what I call personal service!!

Go there, try the brews and while you are at it, say hi to Marin and look forward to a great visit!!!
